Well, I've seen and enjoyed American Beauty for the first time, gone out to Ben's Pub to hang with other English grad students, and picked up a care package of food from home. Now, Ottawa!

what's the atmosphere at Ben's Pub like? I've never been.

English, I suppose, quite well kept, and a sort of neighbourhood pub. The second floor's games room is the better area.

How did you find American Beauty? I like it the first time I saw it, but it's soured for me after a few viewings.

I'm still processing it. Quickly, I'd say that a lot of its criticisms of American suburban life are over the top, many--arguably--so over the top as to not count as valid criticisms. Still, a good film if not taken excessively seriously, and fantastic cinematography.
