A Memorial

Well, it looks like my family's dog--Lady, of 12 years residence with us--is dying. She can't eat food, when she can she can't keep it down, and she's weak and thin. We might well have to put her down to keep her from suffering any more.

She's always been energetic--chasing us whenever we run around the house, lurking under the table in wait for food we might drop, barking energetically whenever intruders come near. But now, she sleeps all the time.

Ah, Lady. She's a good dog.

UPDATE, 12:02 AM</i>: Lady has come back from the vet, and it's kidney failure. Apparently she has only a few more weeks left; all that we can do in the interim is make her comfortable.

We're grieving.
